I wonder..

When the lefties (pun intended) drive on the roads in India, do they feel like driving in a developed country like say, the U.S?

I was miffed with Azhar getting a Congress ticket for the elections. What has the country come to? It seems like the graver the sin you commit, the better are your chances of getting political mileage.

On a different note, does Dawood drive the politics in the country as well? Take a look again at the title of this post, and you will get what I am saying.

The Hungry Tide by Amitava Ghosh

This was a beautiful read. Such books are rare these days and I was pleased with myself for picking up this one inspite of the prejudice I usually have against Bengali writers of the country. For I feel, they glorify nothing but their nothings of Bengal. Well, they might argue that Bengal is indeed great. Such matters in another post.

But this one, though revolved around the royal Bengal tiger of the Sunderbans, I liked the fiction woven into it. It was rich in the description of nature while at the same time displayed brevity without boring the common place reader too much and took the story forward at a reasonable pace. The plot is hardly anything worth writing about, yet I closed the last page of the book feeling really good about the read. The language, flow of plot and the simple uncluttered few characters in the book are its wins for me.

Please do not help me.

A recent visit to the mall left me really sighing for some personal space while shopping. The one that I was really annoyed with was the Health and Glow showroom. It is housed in a space hardly 300 sq feet. There are sales representatives every 5 square feet. They shove their products into your face, bother you with would you like to try it irrespective of whether it is a tube of toothpaste or an eyeliner, and above all, block all pathways. If you escape one, you bump into another even before you could say hallelujah. I do not know if there are many other shoppers like me who get bothered with this continuous pestering. I am more likely to not buy their product in this case than I would have if I were left alone.

As I was reading about how the terrorists in mumbai were conditioned to be trigger happy, was reminded of how at times I am ‘delete’ happy – in clearing several files from my computer at one go.
