Aamby Valley, Lonavla

Place: Aamby Valley, Lonavla

Season: Sep 2007

Verdict: Good resort, though expensive for the facilities it boasts of!

How I reached there?
A 2-hour extremely pleasant drive from Mumbai to Lonavla. Good roads can be engineer’s gift to mankind..so few and far between, that you can’t forget one for long the moment you experience it. The Pune highway drive is a must for any driving enthusiast.

What I saw?
It was a fun trip organised by my workplace(yeah yeah, my pockets aren’t that deep as yet for a place like Aamby Valley)..to rejuvenate and experience the rewards for a gruelling work schedule in the previous few months.
The city has amazing facilities..the golf court, sports facilities, a beautiful lake, nice conference halls, open air theater,dining/recreational areas, a beautiful beach side area (man made, and that is the beauty of the place)…
The cottage is a tad disappointing…does not live up to the star facilities it promises..dull and old interiors reduce the charm a bit. Food is not ambrosia either.
Huge place…one cannot walk to any facility..dependance on the golf cart though high, is worth the wait…

Worth mentioning:
Courteous staff..good housekeeping and security at the place.
Large tracts of undeveloped land, lawns still being made, buildings still being built…

The Tongue Tang

I like to smell these….

The smell of sands before the rains…
Ripe mangoes…
Drumstick sambar…
Petrol in the car..
Shoe polish…
Fresh butter pop corn..
Raw neem leaves seasoning to rasam…
Fresh ghee on steamed rice…
Onion Pakodas..
Shampoo right after a hair wash…

How come that it is often my tongue that decides the smells I like, more than my nose should!
